Beat the Summer Heat in 4 SIMPLE STEPS

As summer approaches, we are bound to spend time outside in the beating sun…While it’s always a great time to kick back with family and friends by chilling poolside or playing sports, having your summer makeup look glide off your face is not. Of course, there are many ways to prevent that from happening.

First Step: Sunscreen
In my first blog, I talk all about why sunscreen is important and all the other factors to look into when choosing one. It is important to protect yourself from the sun’s harsh UV rays in order to prevent sun spots and any other harm to your skin. You can check that blog out below.

Step 2: Primer
This is probably the most vital thing that you can add to your makeup routine to ensure that it does not slide off your face before the day is over. Primers go on after moisturizers/creams, and they add a layer between your skin and base makeup so that it can really stick to your skin. Typically, it will add an almost tacky finish to your skin which is perfect for the foundation to stick to. If you have oily skin, this will be a game changer because you will not notice as much shine in your t zone area in comparison to the absence of a primer. The best primer on the market for those with oily skin looking for their makeup to last all day is the Smashbox Photo
Finish Primer. If you are on the drier side, I would recommend going for a primer that has a luminous finish because that will still aid in keeping your makeup on all day, while not washing you out. The Becca Backlight Priming Filter is a good choice for that.

Another important product to invest in if you have oily eyelids is an eyeshadow primer. If your eyeshadow creases up at the end of the day, this will ensure that everything stays in place. Additionally, an eyeshadow primer makes the pigment of the eyeshadow much more vibrant and overall budge proof, making you feel like you can take on the day!

Step 3: Choosing the Right Foundation
In a separate blog post, I am going to compile the best foundations for oily and dry skin respectively, but overall it is very important to choose a foundation that is tailored specifically for your skin type. Look for words like oil free, transfer resistant, and sweat-proof to ensure the integrity of your makeup.

Step 4: Investing in a setting spray
It seems crazy to think that misting your face with something can keep the makeup locked in all day…But it’s true! On days that I don’t mist my face with a product like Urban Decay All Nighter, my makeup will slide right off. Also, it melts together all the different products used on your face for a seamless look.
